History of Southington CT

Southington has a history that predates its official 1779 founding. Years earlier, Samuel Woodruff left Farmington and established a new settlement in the area that was originally known as Panthorne. Residents eventually renamed it South Farmington and then changed it to Southington. Town records document 1726 as the year Southington residents built a meeting house. This was significant as it was independent of the Farmington Parish. The meeting house is no longer standing but a number of historic homes remain in fine condition.

During Southington’s early history, its thriving manufacturing presence included a cement mill, wood mills, and factories. The town has a proud military legacy that boasts volunteers in every armed conflict since the Revolutionary War. General Washington, General Lafayette, and other well-known military leaders made historic visits to Southington.

Relocating to Southington CT

At Brooke Group Real Estate, we know that relocating is never easy. That’s why we do everything we can to minimize your stress. We’ve also created this brief Relocating to Southington CT Guide. It includes local information and moving tips to help you during your relocation process.

1

CONNECT WITH A TRUSTED REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL

When you’re searching for a new home, you need an agent that works for you. Our buyer’s agents know local home availability, pricing, amenities, and other critical market factors. We work for you, and we use what we know to help you make the best home-buying choice.

2

TELL YOUR REALTOR WHAT YOU WANT

Our real estate professional can find the right home for you, but only if you provide the information they need. Talk to your agent. Answer their questions. The more we know about your needs and wants, the easier it is to find the home of your dreams.

3

VISIT BEFORE RELOCATING TO SOUTHBURY

It’s important to visit before relocating to Southington CT. You get a better feel for the homes and the town. If you stay for more than a day, we can schedule multiple home tours. You can spend time getting to know your new home town. You can also meet some of the people who will become your new friends and neighbors.

If you can’t visit before relocating to Simsbury, you shouldn’t let that stall your home-buying efforts. You can often view homes online. Many real estate listings now provide professional photo arrays, walkthrough videos, or 3-D virtual tours. These media presentations help you narrow your prospects.

4

TOUR HOMES ONLINE

When you’re relocating to Southington CT, a home tour gives you a personal experience. If you can’t make it to town for an in-person walkthrough, many home listings provide online tours. Walkthrough videos, virtual tours, and high definition photos can help you make up your mind even at a distance.

5

GET READY TO MOVE

Relocations consume your energy and keep you stressed. You must perform many tasks yourself, but moving furniture doesn’t have to be one of them. Consider working with professional packers and movers. They get the job done faster and better.

You can obtain packing and moving estimates even before you have a closing date for your new home. If you’re relocating to Southington CT to work for the same company, your employer may pay the costs. If not, ask your tax advisor if relocation costs are tax-deductible.

6

FIND IMPORTANT SERVICES

It’s a good idea to connect with service providers ahead of time. Here are a few must-have contacts to help you arrange schooling, medical care, and other services before relocating to Southington CT.

7
